More Information About Staying

First of all, so you can tell your friends and family who might want to contact you during your stay, the phone at the condo is 304-572-6265.  If you want to call out of the local area, bring a phone card.  You can call toll free and local numbers only from the condo.

Lots of information about the area, including a souple of maps of the resort, is available at www.snowshoemtn.com
Specifically the maps are at these URLs: http://media.intrawest.com/snowshoe/map_pdfs/winter_05_map.pdf  To see the slopes check out:
http://media.intrawest.com/snowshoe/map_pdfs/Mtntop-Map-19x13.pdf
You'll find The Summit location just about at the center of the maps.  Handy to everything you'll want to enjoy in the village.  5 minutes from the village and the slopes.  A shuttle runs regularly through the parking lot, just outside your door, that connects to shuttles to Top of the World, and Silver Creek ski area (see below).

We have installed a combination lock so we can send you the code after we receive final payment 2 weeks before arrival. Since you have the code you go straight to the condo, so there is no check in delay.. If there is someone checking out that day, housekeeping will have it ready by 4:00PM, almost always. You can peep in to see if it is ready before that time if you arrive early, but please don't start moving your things in until housekeeping is done and out.

The phone number for the Pingleys (housekeeping, and general repair issues) is 572-1082.

The main Snowshoe number is 572-1000.  You can call this number to get connected to most anywhere on the mountain, and to get information you might need, like the business hours of Wildcat Provisions, the little convenience store just up the hill at the D Building end of The Summit Complex.

Cell phone service is hit or miss there. The condo phone is good for all local calling and toll-free numbers, but you will need a calling card for long distance.

We currently don't have Internet access at the condo, but the Village has WI-FI pretty much throughout, so Shavers or Starbuck's in the village are good places for wireless access. Occasionally we see signal from a neighbor, so you can always try that at your own risk.

If you've never been to Snowshoe, you might consider skiing Silver Creek, particularly in the afternoon when lift lines at Snowshoe can get lengthy.   Lift lines at Silver Creek are minimal, and the snow conditions stay nicer throughout the day due to the norteast facing setting, and the fewer number of skiers and boarders using the slopes.   Many visitors don't even know it is an awesome option on the mountain.   People in the know are often found there, getting in a lot more "turns" in a given amount of time.   Your lift ticket is good at Silver Creek, and Silver Creek has night skiing until 9 pm.  Check it out!!

Please call Jim's cell phone if there are any issues while you are there:  304-542-8222

The Rules of the House (Yes, we have a few. Doesn't everyone?)

1) No smoking cigarettes at any time, no kidding.  Please smoke outdoors, not in the mudroom, not in the airlock to the deck... outside!   If we get a report of smoking inside, you forfeit your deposit, really.

2) No pets.  The thing is, we like pets, but pets don't like being cooped up while you're out playing, and sometimes chew furniture.  Pets do have accidents, and we know they are accidents, but you're leaving, and we're left with the accident, no matter how hard you try to clean it up.   Pets leave behind allergins too, and some of our guests are allergic to pets.   Again, evidence of pets is a deposit jeopardizing discovery.   Please - is all we can say - don't let this happen.   Sad but true:  The place is nice and fresh when you arrive in a way it would not be if you followed the check-out of smokers or pets.

3)  Treat the place as you would if you were borrowing it from a friend.   We want you to feel good about how you leave it, and how you will find it when you come back next time.  We've had some real losers come through the place when Snowshoe was the management (booking) agent.   One guest paid $695 to cover damages - broken doors, burn holes in things, bottle caps pressed into the ceiling.  We weren't impressed.  Would you be?  The "Golden Rule" is really the deal here.  We would take care of your place if we rented from you, and need you to do the same.  We dropped Snowshoe as our booking agent.....  We want to share our place with a more responsible clientele.  Snowshoe just wanted 25% for booking, and didn't want any accountability.
4) Use the yellow Parking Permits  (you'll find on the kitchen bar) in your car to avoid any towing potential.  If you have more than two cars, it is probably too many, but make sure that you leave a note on the car saying you're staying in 301-C.
6) When you leave, please turn the heat all the way down.  It really is costly to heat the condo, and senseless when nobody is there.   Thanks in advance !!
7)  We have been in our place when outlandish behavior was audible through the walls when a very rowdy party of twentysomethings was happening until the wee hours.   This wasn't "cool."   We like to have fun, so it isn't  that we are sticks-in-the-mud, but we do not rent to young crowds because of the few who are totally inconsiderate.  What a shame.  At least a couple of people in your group must be over 25, and everyone should plan to be responsible, and considerate of the property, and the neighbors.
8) When you get back home, please take time to give us fair feedback at the www.vrbo.com/106888 site.  This will activate your elegibility for the 10% discount and reduced deposit requirement we extend to returning guests.
